Music Theory/History

If you hate music theory, blame Bach. Bach's written theory rules are followed to this day and have driven many a music student crazy. The aim is to make Theory and History as enjoyable and satisfying as finishing a Facebook quiz or your favorite book. Whether it is AP theory or studying the Renaissance period, help is here for you.

Piano

“There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself.” J.S. Bach. Although I don't agree 100% with Bach, I do believe that ANYONE can learn to play piano. My goal is to leave a student with the same admiration for playing that I have.

Voice

"Singing is the love of my life..." Stevie Nicks. I have studied voice since third grade and I strive daily to share my passion with my students. The goal is to WORK HARD and PLAY HARD during lessons. My approach varies based on the student. I cover several aspects of vocal study including sight singing, performance, and repertoire building.

Guitar

"The time I burned my guitar it was like a sacrifrice. You sacrifice the things you love. I love my guitar." Jimi Hendrix. Some of the most beautiful and inspirational instrumental music is played on guitar. My objective is to

More Instruments

"I love being a drummer. Everyone thinks you're dumb. What they don't realize is that if it weren't for you, their band would suck." Dave Grohl. Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching students with a range of musical interests. Many of which are under-estimated instruments. There is nothing like the heartbeat of a kick drum, the singing strings of a violin, or the calming peace of a ukulele. I am proud to have these instruments included in my services.

Reviews

My kids are having fun and also their piano skills are improving. Their Recital was also amazing!!! No pressure, but engaging kids into the world of music.

Crystal was instrumental in helping our daughter with her music theory class. We not only saw her improve in grades, but also grew her interest in the subject. She has a warm personality, and we found her very encouraging and supportive through the course of the year. Thanks, Crystal!

I am an adult re-learning piano as a hobby. Crystal was able to pick up my strengths and weaknesses and tailor fit the lesson to me. I initially thought I was going to have to go through boring parts but she knew what I already knew and went to parts I didn't. She explained everything very thoroughly, yet fast and effectively. It was fun! And Crystal is a joy to talk to and be with. I can't wait for my next lessons!
